1:3 Scale Statuette
Packaging & Product Development
Catarina was developed as a premium collectible designed to expand the Theory Comics universe beyond the page. From concept development and art direction to prototype production, packaging design, and launch preparation, this project highlights the process of transforming an original idea into a market-ready product while balancing creativity, production requirements, and brand consistency.
Preliminary Sketches

Initial Concept Exploration
The earliest visual exploration of Catarina's form, posture, and personality. These preliminary sketches established the creature's aggressive stance, silhouette, and overall direction before moving into more detailed design studies.

Head & Feather Studies
Focused design studies used to refine Catarina's facial features, feather structure, and color palette. These sketches helped establish the character's visual identity while exploring texture, movement, and expression.

Pose Refinement
A secondary concept sketch created to evaluate proportions, opposing sides, balance, and anatomical details. This phase focused on refining the overall composition and ensuring the design translated effectively into a three-dimensional collectible.

Final Concept Approval
The approved concept drawing used as the foundation for the digital sculpting phase. This design consolidated the visual direction, proportions, and key details that would guide production of the final collectible.
Digital Sculpt & 3D Model
The Catarina digital sculpt and production-ready 3D files were designed and developed by Lord of the Print. Their work served as the foundation for prototype production, paint studies, packaging development, and final manufacturing.

Support Generation
Custom support structures were generated in Chitubox to stabilize the model during printing while protecting delicate features and reducing post-processing cleanup. Multiple support configurations were evaluated to balance print quality and production efficiency.

Model Orientation
The digital sculpt was strategically oriented within Chitubox to minimize visible support marks, improve print reliability, and preserve fine details throughout the printing process. Proper orientation was critical for maintaining the integrity of the feathers, facial features, and environmental elements.

Print Preparation & Validation
Using Anycubic Photon Workshop, the model was finalized for production through support verification, layout adjustments, and print simulation. This stage ensured all components were properly prepared before slicing and manufacturing.

Slicing & Production Output
The finalized model was sliced into printable layers and exported for resin production. Layer analysis, material estimates, and print-time calculations were reviewed to confirm production readiness and optimize manufacturing efficiency.
File Preparation & Print Optimization

Prototype Finishing & Paint Studies
All prototype proofs were produced in-house and served as working models for evaluation, refinement, and presentation. Following printing, each component was cleaned, cured, assembled, and refined through sculpting, surface preparation, and sanding. Multiple paint studies were then conducted to evaluate color palettes, material finishes, and visual impact before developing the final presentation piece. This phase transformed the raw printed components into finished collectibles ready for packaging development, photography, and production review.

Packaging Design & Production

The packaging system was developed to complement the premium nature of the collectible while maintaining consistency with the Theory Comics brand. Original illustrations were created in Clip Studio Paint, refined and prepared for production in Adobe Photoshop, and assembled into final print-ready layouts using Adobe InDesign. Packaging proofs and 3D mockups were used to evaluate presentation, structure, branding, and overall customer experience prior to manufacturing.

Production Hand-Off
After completing concept development, proof production, finishing, paint studies, and packaging design, the project was delivered to Theory Forge for final manufacturing. Detailed production assets, packaging files, and visual references were provided to support a consistent transition from prototype to finished collectible.
